OPERATING & MAINTENANCE MANUAL

Installation and Operation

Prior to installation, it is the fabricator’s / builder’s / developer’s responsibility to ensure that all window frames are installed to meet the glazing requirements as laid out in AS1288.

Should the Sashless Window/s or any of their components cease to operate correctly, do not operate the Sashless Window/s and contact the Jewel Sashless office to organise a service call out.

Maintenance

Regular use and maintenance of your Sashless Window/s is a condition of the Jewel Sashless warranty. Appropriate care and maintenance of your Sashless Window/s will keep them in perfect working order and extend the life of the products.

Windows installed in coastal and bushfire prone areas will need more frequent maintenance, this will need to be performed every 6 months.

Inspection

Jewel Sashless performs an inspection of all windows installed, it is recommended that a client inspection is done at the completion of the install and any issues be raised as soon as they are noticed. Clients / end users should perform further inspections every 12 months.

For coastal areas and bushfire prone areas (BAL 29 and above) 6 monthly inspections should be carried out.

  • Ensure all panes operate in a smooth and free manner.
  • Ensure all seals are in place, intact and clean.
  • Ensure all locks and handles are in place, operational and clean.
  • All tracks should be cleaned and sprayed with silicone spray every 12 months (6 in harsh climate areas)

  • Locks are manufactured to be maintenance free, should a lock fail, please contact Jewel Sashless for a service call.

Glass Maintenance

  • Clean glass with mild soap or detergent as per manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Rinse immediately with a generous amount of clean water to remove all cleaning products from the glass and dry using a squeegee or a soft, clean cloth.
  • Harsh solvents should not be used on glass and must be kept away from glazing sealants, handles and other materials that may be affected by these solvents.
  • Blades / Scrapers or similar tools should never be used on the glass surface.
  • Under no circumstances should harsh cleaners or alkaline materials be used on the glass.
  • Once installed, the builder / developer must protect all Sashless Windows surfaces from brick cleaning acid, mortar, plaster, building dust etc. failure to do so can void any warranty arising from damage caused.
  • Prior to operation, carefully remove any acrylic lap seal and clean away and dust / rubble to avoid scratching the glass. Once clean, carefully replace lap seal.

Timbers

All exposed timbers should be sealed within 31 days after installation with a minimum of one undercoat layer of paint. If staining is required, use a clear water based repellent. This is only a temporary protection during construction.

Aluminium

Clean all visible aluminium with a clean soft cloth and remove any grime from internal tracking systems. Spray tracking with silicone spray. This should be repeated every 12 months (every 6 months in harsh climate areas).
